Brindlee Mountain Storm Damage

This morning - students at brindlee mountain primary school won't be heading back to class.

Classrooms were destroyed - and the building is no longer safe to be in after an e- f-2 tornado touched down this weekend.

Take a look at this video showing the extensive damage... the national weather service says winds were 120 miles per hour when the tornado hit the school.

Waay 31's rodneya ross is live at the school this morning with a look at the damage.

It's dark out now so i can't show you the damage -- but adlib what i see go ahead and take a look at this video -- 10 classrooms, the cafeteria, and the school gym were all destroyed.

Outside of the school, trees were uprooted... and power poles snapped and fell onto the school .

Bleachers from the ballfield were thrown 150 yards.

Now the marshall county school district is working to relocate students to the middle school building at the highschool since the schools is no longer safe.

To make this move, brindlee mountain primary, elementary, and high schools are all closed this week -- all other schools will still be in session.

At 11am this morning, the school board will meet to declare a state of emergency and ask for financial assistance from the state.
