Fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood joined protesters outside a south London court to mark the first day of Julian Assange’s extradition hearing.
About one hundred people have gathered outside Woolwich Crown Court as Assange appears before a magistrate for the start of his fight against extradition to the United States, where he is accused of helping to leak hundreds of thousands of classified documents.
Stella Morris, the fiancee of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, has spoken ofhis fight for “life, press freedom and truth” as he awaits a decision on hisextradition to the United States. Morris delivered the statement outside theOld Bailey at the conclusion of evidence in his case on Thursday.
