Unclear.

Studies find that murders by intimate partners are on the rise.

What's caused the increase?

Well news 10's jordan kudisch joins us live from indiana state universitys campus.

She spoke with crime experts to give us an answer.

Jon..

I spoke with a criminology professor here at isu.

We went over this study..

I'm holding it in my hand.

It explains why this is happening..who it's happening to..

And what's the motive behind it.

Let's answer these questions.

The study by james fox says these murders are driven by gun violence.

And the gender it's happening to the most?

Women.

Only 5-percent of victims are men, the study says the number of victims saw a 19-percent increase from 2014 to 2017.

I sat down with professor murray who has worked closely with mass murders and other crimes.

She says men are more likely to kill with guns.

Women prefer poison.

Murray shared with me some shocking statistics about these murders.

Here's what she had to say.

"four women a day are killed, half of those are domestic violence.

So two a day are from domestic violence.

Every sixteen hours a women is shot and killed by a partner, marriage, partner, ex."

In the next 30 minutes..
