STAFF APPLYING LUBE TO LOGGERHEAD SEA TURTLE'S BODY STORY: The staff of Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium applied lube to a loggerhead sea turtle's body to keep it comfortable out of water during its trip to the release destination in Florida on Monday (March 2).
The turtles do not travel in water because they breathe air, water could pose a risk as they could accidentally inhale water while it's sloshing around.
Instead the lube is reapplied every few hours throughout their trip.
