Students in Corning are asking the city council to consider a ban on tobacco flavored products.

The city of corning is considering banning flavored tobacco.

Action news now reporter ana torrea shows us how a group of students got the ball rolling.

Right now the city is looking is still looking into.

I spoke to corning city manager kristina miller today.

She told me the city council directed staff to look more into this.

But several people i spoke today--both on and off camera-- told me they are for the tobacco flavored ban.

Banning tobacco would be great because i feel like this is an invitation for kids to try this candy flavored product # a california health kids survey revealed in 2019 - 22-point-7 percent of kids in tehama county reported using tobacco flavored product.

Miller told me once city staff completes their research... they will bring back their findings to the council.

Where they will then make a decision.

Live in corning, ana torrea, action news now coverage you can count on.

The house of representatives voted last friday to ban the sale of flavored cigarettes and e- cigarette liquids.

The bill goes further than a partial ban announced by president trump last month, which would forbid the sale of most flavored e-cigarette cartridges, but exempt menthol and other tobacco flavors.#
