A passenger plane crashed into a Gulfstream G450 private jet at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, Laos on Monday (March 9) night.
A $40m private jet's rudder was snapped off after a plane with passengers on board crashed into it while taxing to the runway.
The Gulfstream G450 was on the apron at the Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, the capital of Laos on Monday (March 09) night.
But a Thai Airway's Airbus A330 carrying 79 passengers and 13 crew was being towed from the gate while preparing to take off when it collided with the smaller plane.
The embarrassed pilot had to stop and usher all of the passengers off the aircraft to be taken to a hotel for the night.
Footage from a bystander shows the two planes parked up after the clash.
They said the wingtip from the commercial plane hit the private jet, which can cost between 38 million USD and 43 million USD when bought new.
Pictures show minion damage suffered by the Airbus.
The airport worker, who did not want to be named, said: ''The insurance will cover the costs of the repairs to the jet, but it's a very embarrassing accident to happen.
The airport's not busy so I don't know how they crashed.'' Flag carrier Thai Airway confirmed the incident on flight HS-TEU.
They said there were no casualties and all of the passengers and crews were transferred to an alternative aircraft.
The company said in a statement: "Fortunately, there was no one injured from the accident but we have to cancel the flight TG575 from Vientiane to Bangkok.
"The 79 passengers and 13 flight attendants including the pilots were taken to stay at a hotel and they travelled on a re-scheduled flight.
"The company will assign officers to investigate the case.'' The Wattay International Airport is Laos' main airport but still relatively small, compared with other countries in Southeast Asia.
The country's Communist government predicts the number of people arriving in the country on international flights will reach 1.5 million in 2023.
