#### california lawmakers have approved up to 1- billion dollars in new spending to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

The bi-partisan move gives the governor 500- million to spend for "any item for any purpose" related to recent emergency declaration.

After approving the spending... lawmakers then suspended work until april 13th.

Lawmakers have ordered people in the bay area to shelter in place to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Residents have been told only leave their homes for essential activities that includes buying food or medicine, seeing a doctor or caring for a family member.

Violating the order is considered a misdemeanor and could result in jail time..

Governor gavin newsom has issued an executive order aimed at protecting renters and homeowners during the pandemic.

The order allows local governments to halt evictions, slow foreclosures and protects against utility shutoffs.

The ability for landlords to recover back rent remains in place.

These protections will remain in effect until may 31st.
