Some of the hearings that will be suspended are lawsuits and hearings where the defendants are not in jail.

In justice.

As kezi 9 news reporter michael sevren shows some hearings at the lane county courthouse will be suspended starting later this week as restrictions come in place.

David bouley tells me he filled for small claims court after his truck was vandalised.

But it may be a while before he get to show his case in front of judge.

Sot: if it is that's ok, i've got time i'll wait until they proceses it and we can take care of it.

Liz rambo the lane county court administrator, tells me the delay is because of restrictions ordered by the chief justice of the oregon supreme court.

Some of the types of hearing that have been suspended include lawsuits and criminal cases where the defendant is not in jail.

The restrictions are set to go into effect on thursday and last until next friday.

But rambo says they could be extended.

Sot i belive that we are doing our best to serve the needs of our community to serve the needs of our community through this unusual time.

Stand up: rambo tells me they've put practices in place that help keep the community safe inside the courthouse.

She says along with doing more cleaning, they're also doing social distancing bringing one case into a courtroom at a time.

Lane county district attorney patty perlow says any cases that have to do with immediate safety will still happen.

Sot: justice will be delayed for a number of victims and i hope that we can protect the public during this time.

She says they will be asking the court to allow some serious misdemeanor cases to move forward.

Meanwhile rambo says if your sick and scheduled to appear in court... call your attorney.
