Mum's angry rant over coronavirus school closures goes viral

An angry mother shares her frustration with homeschooling on social media, and the video goes viral

(SOUNDBITE) (Hebrew) MOTHER OF FOUR, SHIRI KENIGSBERG LEVI, SAYING (TRANSLATION PROVIDED BY THIRD PARTY): "Listen, it's not working, this distance learning thing.

Seriously - it's impossible!

It's crazy!

Straight off in the morning - it's only the second day.

Millions of WhatsApp messages.

I have four kids, may they be healthy.

Just imagine how many WhatsApp messages, how many teachers for each child, how many subjects per child.

I've only got two computers in the house.

All morning they're fighting over the computers.

One of my daughter's teachers is living in a dream world.

She thinks she'll get up at 8am to see him on screen.

8am she only just manages to roll over in bed.

Where do you get off?

The music teacher of my youngest sent over a musical score this morning.

What am I going to do with that information?

What, have I got some band in the house?

I can't read music!

Just one second let me pull out my clarinet and help my son with his score.

Enough guys, teachers, dial it down, lower expectations!

And all day 'How's the child feeling?

He should draw a picture...".

How's the child feeling?

He's spending the entire day on his cell phone - he's fine!

Sleeping fine, eating fine - they don't stop eating.

How's he feeling?

Ask me how I'm feeling!

Falling to pieces!

I go from one child to the other - here's Science, here's Math - forget it!

And how am I supposed to know all those things?

Now our children will find out how dumb we are.

It's not right.

How am I supposed to know how to transform an improper fraction?

(mock fraction) And anyway I want to understand - if it's mock, so why bother with it?

It's not real!

Leave him alone!

What am I saying?

You've finished us off - it's only the second day!

If we don't die of coronavirus, we'll die of distance learning!

There you go.

Got it off my chest." STORY: An angry rant from a frustrated mother homeschooling her children after the coronavirus forced schools to close in Moshav Ge'a went viral on Monday (March 16).

Shiri Kenigsberg Levi from Israel shared her distress about teaching her children.

Lines such as "now our children will find out how dumb we really are" have seen parents that can relate share it across social media.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday (March 19) tightened a national stay-at-home policy, saying police would now enforce restrictions aimed at halting the spread of the coronavirus.

The measures stopped short of a total national lockdown.

Netanyahu said Israelis would still be allowed to shop for food and medicine, and some workers would be exempted.

Israel has already banned the entry of foreigners into the country.

Mum swaps mindless shopping for a minimal waste lifestyle

A stay-at-home mum who swapped “mindless shopping” for minimal waste and mindfulness – and is now showing others how clearing their cupboards will help tidy their minds – told how a book on simple living triggered her epiphany. Constantly buying things she did not need to “keep up with the Joneses,” a life changing moment came in 2017 for Cassie Tomesek, 34, when she read a French book entitled, L’art de la Simplicité, meaning The Book of Simplicity, by Dominique Loreau – which advocates a ‘no frills’ existence – and overhauled her family’s way of life. Now embracing minimal living, Cassie, who lives in Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia, with her husband Thomas, 39, who works for the department of education, and their children, Lucas, three, and Aksel, one, said: “I used to suffer with social anxiety.” She continued: “But, since I started living a more minimal life, my anxiety has eased off. I think the saying, ‘Tidy house, tidy mind’ is very true.” Now trying to follow zero waste principles, Cassie uses as little plastic as possible, owns no ornaments, side tables or sofa cushions, has less clothes than her husband and only owns eight pairs of shoes. And she firmly believes that decluttering her home has, in turn, removed a lot of the unwanted thoughts that were cluttering her mind.

Mum says watching RuPaul saved her teen drag queen son’s life and helped him realise he's trans [Video]

Mum says watching RuPaul saved her teen drag queen son’s life and helped him realise he's trans

A devoted mum has told how she believes RuPaul’s Drag Race saved her son’s life - as the gender-bending performance art helped him realise that he is transgender. Though assigned female at birth, Bailey Larsen, now 14, grew up feeling as if he did not belong, cutting off his long, blonde hair and wearing boyish clothes in a bid to feel more comfortable. Eventually, in 2017, aged 11, he came out to his mum, child therapist Dana Larsen, 41, as non-binary – a person who does not identify rigidly as either a man or a woman. Keen to encourage him to explore who he is, she decided to start watching RuPaul’s Drag Race with him, a VH1 show that sees fierce queens compete for the title of America’s next drag superstar. Buoyed by the confidence of the performers he saw on screen, Bailey, who has now decided he would like to transition to male, and is taking hormone blockers, felt gradually more comfortable showing his true self to the outside world. And now, he even has a sassy drag alter-ego of his own, Nemo.
