For the virus but first, waay 31's rodneya ross is gathering the latest details on the state's the first coronavirus related death.

Rodneya-- it's heartbreaking news for a lot of people not just here in north alabama but across the state.

Right this is a truly tragic situation.

This morning we know the woman worked part time at the jackson county courthouse in a position where she did not have regular contact with the public.

And we're told all of her co- workers were notified of her positive test results.

The alabama department of public health says the woman had underlying health issues and died out of state.

We learned from jackson county commission chairman, tim guffey, that she died at a chattanooga hospital he told us her co-workers were notified but the incubation period since the last day the woman worked has already passed.

We talked to one man in scottsboro who told us people need to take the virus more serious.

Garry morgan - lives in scottsboro "it should be an eye opener for public officials all across the state and the united state so far there are two confirmed cases of coronavirus in jackson county.

Today we're reaching out to county officials to learn more details about the woman's death.

The jackson county courthouse closed last week because of the virus.

It is scheduled to reopen on april 6th.
