Mississippi State University is preparing to close down all of its buildings on campus, except for ones with essential services.

University spokesperson sid salter said theres about 400 students who still live on campus..along with essential employees.

To follow the governor's shelter in place order, the school is preparing to make some changes tomorrow.

Salter said students have been moved to one residence hall to cut down on the nunber of buildings workers have to continually clean.

He said all but one main dining hall will stay open, which is now a grab and go option.

Essential staff like security, janitorial and health workers will continue to work as normal.

Mitchell memorial library changed its operations after the governor's executive order.

Students can access the library digitally, by mail for free or do pick up orders.

Salter said he hopes students and residents take precautions to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

"townspeople here in starkville who have gotten accustomed to taking a walk on campus, we're asking that when people do that they are mindful of the rule of 10, they are mindful of staying in small groups and they are maintaining social distancing."

All buildings on campus will be closed at 5 p-m on friday until april 20th..except for those that offer essential services.
