Murder-Suicide Thought To Have Been Triggered By Fears Of COVID-19

An Illinois man fearing he'd contracted the novel coronavirus COVID-19 killed his wife and then himself last week.

According to Business Insider, police say the Lockport Township resident reportedly told family members he feared he and his wife had contracted the disease.

Thursday, police responded to a wellbeing check at the couple's home, where they found Patrick Jesernik, 54, and Cheryl Schriefer, 59, dead.

According to Business Insider, authorities say both tested negative for COVID-19.

Illinois has more than 10,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 243 deaths as of reporting.

Experts predict the stresses of the pandemic and lockdown could trigger a rise in domestic violence.
