Coronavirus cases by county: April 8, 2020

New positive coronavirus cases reported in Herkimer, Oneida and Otsego counties.

Again today in oneida county...and a new feature to the county dashboard.

<oneida county > total cases: 129 new cases: 8 <oneida county > hospitalized: 21 of the 21..18 are in oneida county...three are outside the county.... recovered: 23 four more than yesterday.

At his press conference today i asked the county executive when he believe's the county will peak and how far behind new york city we are in terms of the curve.

Anthony picente: i dont think we are as far behind as anybody thinks we are given our numbers and where we are going.

This is something that changes evertday...we are seeing higher numbers this week and we will see that over the next several days as we conduct more tests.

Numbers of hospitalized going up numbers of age groups are indicators thats why its important to keep people at bay.

He talked about age groups.... new today...the county debuted a feature on the dashboard that breaks down the number of cases by age and gender.

So of the 129 people that have tested positive...just over two percent are 17 and under.

18-44 at nearly 40 percent...45-64 nearly 34 percent.

Then 65-75...8 percent and 75 and over 14 percent.

Also there are slightly more men than women with the virus in the county.

Also some clarification on the use of golf courses...this from empire state development.

Golf courses are open, under the same logic as parks and other open spaces although it is important to understand that "essential" is not the same as "business as usual."

Golf courses must enforce social distancing and follow dept of health cleaning/ sanitation guidelines, and their restaurants/bars must abide by the no on-premise dining restriction (they may allow take-out or delivery).

<herkimer county > total cases: 39 new cases: 5 <herkimer county > hospitalized: 2 recovered: 12 <otsego county > and we have sad news to report...a second death from coronavirus to report... there are two new cases for a total of 35 <otsego county > hospitalized: 5 that's up one from yesterday.

Recovered: 12 that's three more than yesterday.
