NYT Report: Trump Wasted Three Weeks Being Mad At Top Health Official

President Donald Trump was so angry at a CDC official that three weeks were wasted that could have been spent trying to stop the coronavirus pandemic.

That's according to The New York Times, which released their report on Saturday.

Business Insider reports top officials knew by the end of February that time was running out to stem the spread.

CDC officials wanted to present Trump with a plan to enact aggressive social distancing and stay-at-home measures.

However, Trump was on a trip to India.

Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the CDC, publicly sounded the alarm.

In response, the stock market plummeted, which angered Trump for being, in his view, too alarmist.

Trump did not issue nationwide social distancing and stay-at-home guidelines until March 16, three weeks after Messonnier's warning.
