Children turn their kitchen into a restaurant

A couple celebrated their wedding anniversary in lockdown with a three-course meal - when their three children turned their KITCHEN into a makeshift restaurant.Samm Greenall, 35, and her husband Lee, 37, were kept in the dark by the anniversary plans cooked up by their youngsters Maisy, 11, Isla, 9, and Georgie, 5.The youngsters converted the kitchen of their house into GG's - Grenall Girls - restaurant for the night and provided the couple with an evening of entertainment. They had secretly enlisted the help of Samm's mum Carol Holmes, a nurse at Leeds General Infirmary, to plan the special treat since lockdown began. And eldest daughter Maisy even sang the couple's first dance song from their wedding five years ago.Samm, who celebrated her birthday the night before, said: "We were given an invitation to the kitchen for 7pm in the morning."They told us we couldn't see each other for an hour before while we got ready."They came up and got us when it was time."Georgie had a little towel over her arm like a little waitress."They'd even made a sign for GG's restaurant that they stuck up - GG's meaning Greenall Girls.

It was just amazing."The youngsters had been plotting their surprise for weeks and even roped Samm into unwittingly helping their plan by asking her to plait their hair.Sam added: "We knew something was up because they had a lot of secretive Facetime calls with their grandma that we weren't allowed in the room for and she would drop things off at the house for them."We thought they might do a pizza or something quick and easy they could do for us."We never thought they would go to the lengths they did."Lee works in drainage and still has to go out and do jobs it has just been me and the girls at home for the past five or six weeks."It was nice to have a bit of time for just me and Lee."They asked me to plait their hair and I did, not thinking anything of it."Then when I saw them I realised - they all looked the same, they were all dressed up as waitresses with the same uniform and same hairstyle.

It was brilliant."When the time came for them to take their seats, Georgie headed to the bedrooms to collect the pair. She then led them downstairs where they were greeted by "head waitress" Maisy who led them to their table.Once they were seated, the couple were treated to a candle-lit three course meal of prawn cocktail, steak and chips and cheesecake for desert.Samm added: "They thought of everything, it was amazing. "They even moved all the other chairs from the dining table so it was a table for two and had prepared a menu for us."In between the starter and the main course, we were taken outside where Maisy sang Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran, which was the song we had our first dance to at our wedding."They even gave us a bill at the end and where it said price, they put 'on the house'."I am so proud of them, they just always have all these thoughtful ideas."The couple, who wed five years ago, have always celebrated their anniversary in a big way.But Samm believes they will never have one as special as this one.She added: "We got married for my 30th, so we always go big for anniversaries."They put so much effort and planning into it, it was so special."Maisy and Isla are a bit older and a bit more independent, but to see them working with Georgie and they were all involved, it was lovely."We since found out they had been planning something big since January, obviously before the lockdown."It was supposed to be a lot different, but after the lockdown happened, the plans had to be changed."They did a wonderful job and it was the most special of the lot.

I don't think we'll ever have a more special anniversary because of the thought and effort that went into it.
