Officials from the University of Oregon said because of the current situation with the pandemic, they pushed the deadline to four weeks before the first day of the fall term.

1 million and our state's death toll surpasses 100.

Lets take a look at the numbres.

In oregon: there are now 2,447 cases.

227 people are in the hospital right now.

Two people over 70 have now died in multnomah county... bringing the state's death toll to 101.

In our local viewing area, linn county is now up to 82 cases.

Benton county reports 30.

Lane is at 50 cases.

Douglas is still at 23 cases.

And coos county remains at 15 cases in the shutter creek correctional facility.

New tonight at 11... for many high school seniors across the country... they have just a few days left to decide where they want to go to college.

Kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy joins us live from the university of oregon campus where the school announced today... they will be pushing back their decisin day to septmeber first... the first college in the*county to do so.

Chynna--this is huge news.

Decision day for all university across the united states is traditionally may 1st.

But the university of oregon is the*first in the country to push thier decision day to september first....nearly 4 week before the first day of fall term.

University officials say their decision to push their day was to give graduating seniors more time to decide.

They say the understand many high school students have to navigate this challenging time with online schooling and possible financial troubles.

For those who are already committed to the unviersity... officials say nothing changes for them.

Here's high school seniors that have had their senior year completely wrecked.

I mean no prom, no graduation, no spring sports.

It just felt like the right thing to do for our students and families, to take the pressure off their college decision process.

Thompson says the university he hopes other university's around the country follow suit and push back their decision day to help ease stress off of high school seniors.

Chynna-- when it comes to incoming students finiding housing... that too will be extended.

Thompson says more information about that will come out next week.

That's good news for people*like my little brother who has been putting off finding housing here on campus since he commited to the university of oregon over a week ago.
