Fatal shooting in Athens

A woman was killed in a shooting in Athens, Tennessee.

Neighbors tell us that violence has gotten worse at this complex.

Athens police are investigating a deadly shooting that also sent a man to the hospital.

News 12's taylor bishop has reaction from neighbors.

Pkg: sheila youngs has been a resident here at the clem jones complex for the past eight years.

"there for awhile a good year we were by ourselves in this apartment complex" young says the violence in this area has only gotten worse.

"all i heard was sort of like something fell and hit the floor but it was actually a gunshot" athens police are investigating an early morning shooting at the complex that left one person dead an another in the hospital.

"they haven't been here long.

Maybe almost a year almost, maybe."

I spoke with several residents that are scared after the shooting, in fear that they could also be in danger.

"retaliation, they are afraid that somebody might come back and try to get them or something" police are searching for two men in a dark colored dodge truck if you have any information contact athens police.
