Stocks getting a bump from optimism over states reopening businesses and strong tech gains.
The dow gaining 211 the s-and-p up 32 and the nasdaq adding 125 another 3 million people filing for unemployment benefits last week --- bringing the 7-week rolling total to 33 point 5 million.
Though claims remain in the millions --- this was actually the lowest total reported since the coronavirus was declared a pandemic by the world health organization on march 14th.
Moderna shares surging on the back of news that the f-d-a has cleared its covid-19 vaccine to move to a phase 2 trial.
The company will begin phase 2 trials shortly and hopes to move to phase 3 trials this summer.
If the experimental vaccine proves to be effective, it could become available to the public as soon as next year.
