The FBI seized the cell phone of North Carolina Republican Sen.

Richard Burr and served him with a search warrant.

Burr and a family member are being investigated for selling stock after receiving classified updates on the pandemic.

According to Business Insider, sources say agents first obtained access to Burr's Apple iCloud account.

Agents then used the information they discovered on iCloud to obtain the warrant for the senator's phone.

Burr is the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee and has access to the most classified and sensitive information.

Burr's committee was getting daily briefings on the threat of the coronavirus around the time he dumped his stock.

Burr dumped up to $1.72 million in stocks on February 13.

The massive sell-off came days after reassuring the public that the U.S. was prepared to handle the COVID-19 pandemic.
