ROSEBURG RESTAURANT FINED NEARLY $14K FOR OPENING AGAINST ORDER

Casey's Restaurant in Roseburg has been fined nearly $14,000 by Oregon OSHA for reopening for dine-in service against Gov.

Kate Brown's executive order.

Our team coverage in douglas county where a restaurant is being fined nearly 14 thousand dollars for opening their doors early-- against the governor's orders.

Kezi 9 news reporter chris lueneburg is live outside casey's restaurant in roseburg with the latest.

Chynna, customers have been streaming in and out of casey's since i got here late this morning.

Some tell us it's been this way ever since they reopened early on may 5th-- when dine-in was still banned.

Oregon osha says the restaurant willfully disregarded the governor's orders and put employees at serious risk of exposure.

They reported that employees weren't wearing masks-- and were working as close as 2 feet to customers.

But customers say it doesn't matter-- they'll be there to support the business... even if it means a fundraising campaign.

"most of roseburg will help them if they do get fined.

Because we love casey's, and we are in favor of oregon opening up and we aren't willing to wait any longer."

The owners of the restaurant declined to go on camera but did tell me they will be fighting the citation-- and are currently following reopening guidelines.

Osha was tracking social media posts, complaints and emails during their inspection... hear what people had to say coming up at 5.
