Early voting for the indiana primary begins tomorrow..and there are a few changes made due to the covid 19 pandemic.

Fox 55's jeremy masukevich spoke with local elections officials and joins us live... jeremy..whats being done to keep everyone who votes in person safe?i'm live now from the grand wayne center where pre-registered voters will be able to cast their early primary vote tomorrow.the allen county elections board tells me they don't know what to expect as far as voter turn out is concerned... but what they do is expect is to learn best practices that will make regular in-person voting on june 2nd as safe as possible 3 fort wayne residents have seen people reentering businesses with varying levels of precaution.lower third: mathew waller, fort wayne resident sot mathew 19:14its half and half.

You have half the people who are respecting it and the others seem like they are not concerned.

But for the most part i think people are doing well with it.george long says he has been hesitant about going out with his family.

I have noticed people distancing themselves a lot.long says his anxiety has lessened from seeing how the fort wayne community has responded to covid-19.and that he is ready to re-enter group settings.sot george 17:09yeah i feel comfortable.

With early voting for the indiana primary election starting tomorrow, beth dlug and the allen county elections board are preparing the grand wayne center to safely host voters.sot beth 2:17everyone's a little bit cautious but they also know we have plenty of protection that is built indlug says each poll worker will be equipped with gloves, a mask, and a plexiglass barrier to separate themselves from voters.sot beth 2:30we have also marked on the floor where the voters should stand.

The voters will be asked to put on a large glove which will be used to use the notepad and voting equipment.dlug says mail-in ballots have become more popular than ever before.she says the elections board has sent out close to 40,000 ballots in allen county.sot beth 4:05people have about another week to get those back to our office so if you are holding a mailed absentee ballot you want to get that back to us so we will have it in our office by noon on election day june 2nd.

Now chris,those who have registered to vote early are able to do so from the grand wayne center starting tomorrow morning at 8.they will have until monday june first at noon.the allen county elections board hopes the decision to collect votes from 25 locations as opposed to over 100 come june 2nd will reduce the chance of spreading covid-19 while voting.
