We have "several hotly contested races" to get to tonight.

News 10's sarah lehman is live.... she joins us from the vigo county courthouse.

And sarah...the numbers are actually coming in faster than we thought they would.

Right here behind me in the vigo county courthouse is where election officials have been tallying your votes all night.

I'll have the latest commissioner races in just a moment..

But first -- i'm joined here live with vigo county clerk brad newman.

Brad thank you for joining us.

Obviously this year was different than in years past.

Can you just walk us through those differences.

Here in vigo county we saw a lot of absentee ballots this year.

Did that make it easier or harder on the clerks office to get those numbers in?

So let's get into those races.

Judy anderson and brad anderson left their respective commissioner seats up for grabs this year.

We start with vigo county commissioner district 2.

Democrats brian dehart and pat goodwin are vying to face republican incumbant chris switzer in the fall.

Right now for the democratic race -- goodwin is leading.

And in vigo county commissioner district 3.... we have steve "top guns" ellis and terre haute fire chief jeff fisher on the democratic ticket.

So far tonight... fisher is leading.

The only republican who filed is incumbant mike morris.

Right now -- not all of the precints are reporting.

That means these are not the official numbers.

Now we move to the vigo county council at-large race.

This was a "choose three" race.

There are "8" candidates on the democratic ticket.

We're showing the lineup on your screen.

Right now, the top two are..... marie theisz..

And don morris..

Each with about 19-percent of the votes.

There's a close tie for the third leader... with aaron loudermilk and jim mann the second.

Loudermilk is ahead by about 130 votes.

"loudermilk" and "mann are "currently" serving on the council.

Now we move to the republicans running for vigo county council at-large.

Again..

This is a "choose three" race.

Right now the three leading are ..... travis norris..

Steven neice..

And tom bogigian .

There are several people looking to fill the role of vigo county coroner.

Doctor susan amos is "not" running for re-election this year.

On the democratic side.... janie myers is leading the race... she's followed by gary griener..

John thomas fitzpatrick... and theresa wormser.

Moving... to the republicans.... ted lemke is just barely ahead at 51-percent..

He's followed by ...
