Thomas Jefferson's direct descendant is calling for changing regarding his family's legacy. He wants the Washington, DC memorial dedicated to the third president to be taken down. Lucian K. Rahul Dubey, an Indian-American gave shelter to 70 protestors at his home in Washington DC. While talking to ANI, he said, "What I saw was nothing short of genocide. When that is happening, people getting clubbed on head, pepper-sprayed in back, it is just pure horror and terror that I can never even imagine". He further added, "I just saw that people were getting crushed and I opened up the door and started yelling 'get in, get in', it was the only safe haven that was around. It wasn't a conscious decision. If it would be a conscious decision, I would 100 percent do it again". Protestors across the United States have been protesting since May 25, when the 46-year-old African-American man died in police custody in Minneapolis. The Mayor of Washington DC Muriel Bowser, announced curfew after protests near White House. Nearly 40 cities imposed curfew in response to violent protests across the US. The countrywide protests erupted when a video showing a policeman kneeling on Floyd's neck for at least eight minutes, while the African-American man kept saying that he could not breathe.

Not only are new cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 climbing dramatically, so are the numbers of its victims being hospitalized. According to Business Insider, COVID-19 hospitalizations started going up toward the end of June, after two straight months of decline. The mayors of Houston and Austin, Texas, said over the weekend that hospitals will be overwhelmed within two weeks if the virus isn't gotten under control.
Ascena owns specialty retail brands Ann Taylor and Lane Bryant. The company plans to shut at least 1,200 stores as part of bankruptcy proceedings this week, according to a Bloomberg report. Under its Chapter 11 arrangement, Ascena would do away with around $700 million from its $1.1 billon debt load. Business Insider reports that Ascena's lenders will assume ownership of the company. On July 4th, Kanye West announced he wants to run for president. In an interview with Forbes published Wednesday, West said he is being advised by Tesla CEO and tech billionaire Elon Musk. On Tuesday, President Trump gave an interview in which he said he was considering banning TikTok. Trump echoed earlier comments from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Trump implied a ban on TikTok would be a way of punishing China for the coronavirus. Business Insider reports that Coronavirus originated in the city of Wuhan. Trump's rationale was somewhat different from the reason given by Pompeo. Pompeo said the US was worried TikTok could be a national-security risk.
Walmart is reportedly set to launch Walmart+ ...the company’s answer to Amazon Prime. Walmart + will go live later in July, after the coronavirus pandemic delayed its initial springtime launch.
