Election turnout

A high voter turnout is expected in lexington for the upcoming primary... and city officials say they hope most of the voting will be done by absentee ballot.

Lexington mayor linda gorton and fayette county clerk don blevins gave an update today on voting in the primary... and once again.... pushed for registered voters to get an absentee ballot and vote by mail.

They say... so far..10,000 absentee ballots have been counted.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is june 15th.

The ballot must be postmarked by june 23rd... which is the day of the primary election.

There will be only one in-person polling site in the city.

It's being set up at kroger field.
