Facebook Shuts Down Idea Of Paying For News Link On Platforms

Australia’s competition watchdog the ACCC created a mandatory code of conduct for tech companies.

Part of it includes getting Facebook and Google to pay for news links on their platforms. According to Business Insider, this would help the cash flow of media companies hurt by social media.

Facebook doesn’t seem to like the idea, making it clear to publishers they don’t need them to survive.

The company said: “News does not drive significant long-term value for our business.”
