Prosters march for LGBTQIA+ rights

They marched from Kesey Square to the Federal Courthouse.

For jillian this weekend today -- hundreds gathered in downtown eugene to march in solidarity with the black lives matter movement and to fight for lgbtq rights.

That exactly right, emma-- the protest started around noon today at kesey square and ended where i standing here outside of the federal courthouse.

What do they want?

Recognition and equality.

The protest was hosted by transponder, a nonprofit in eugene, providing support and resources for transgender and gender diverse individuals--as well as allies.

This all comes after the trump adminsitration revoked transgender healthcare protection...somethi ng that protesters here today are fighting against.

Many shared that they want to bring awareness to the transgender lives that have been lost...with an emphasis on those of color.

Especially for trans women of color, native trans women, black trans women, its already so dangerous in america to just be that, if youre getting discriminated in your own healthcare, thats like chaos // coming into this fiery place of wanting to change that and do whatever i can do to help that continue to have the momentum to have the movement and have that change actually happen."

Shouts of "black trans lives matter" and other phrases echoed across downtown eugene as they marched to the federal courthouse...and as many tell me feelings were expressed today that they've been wanting to get out for quite some time.

Coming up in the six o clock hour, i spoke to a staff members from*transponder, about the message they wanted to get across this afternoon and going forward.
