Brush fire destroys home in SoCal town of Niland

A brush fire ripped through the town of Niland, California, as it destroyed dozens of homes that broke out on Sunday night (June 28).

The strong winds created a challenge for fighters to control the fire.

No further details were immediately confirmed.

It's unclear if anyone was hurt in the fire or what may have sparked it.

"As soon as we saw the smoke and saw it was getting worse, we checked up on friends and went with hoses and shovels to go help them and prevent theirs and other houses from the spread of fire," the filmer said.

"All the town's electricity and the signal went out, the local school was used to aid people in any help they needed."
