Pediatricians Tell America: Get Kids Back In The Classroom, STAT

The AAP strongly advocates that all policy considerations for the coming school year should start with a goal of having students physically present in school.

American Academy of Pediatrics According to HuffPost, updated guidance from the AAP asserts that the importance of students being physically present in class is well-documented.

Furthermore, the AAP says that evidence already has emerged of “negative impacts” on children due to school closures in the spring.

For example, being away from school for a long period of time can lead to lowered grades and social isolation.

It's also difficult for educators to spot students who may be dealing with domestic abuse, substance abuse, or serious mental health concerns.

Finally, school closures also have a direct negative impact on children’s nutrition and their physical activity levels.
