Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry announced the city will invest federal dollars in more than a dozen local nonprofit programs.

The city of fort wayne is distributing over four hundred thousand dollars in grants to local nonprofits.fox 55's jeremy masukevich tells us the impact the funding will have throughout the community.

So we have a group of programs around those three areas and we will be providing that every single day.mayor tom henry says the goal of the grants is to help low and moderate income residents with shelter, employment skills, domestic violence support, and youth development.lower third: tom henry, mayor of fort wayne sot henry we have a committee that takes a look at a number of possibilities in the city.

Through conversations, applications, and dialogue we determine ultimately which ones we feel would be in the best position to meet the needs of our citizens.the total amount of funding is nearly four hundred and forty five thousand....and the grants range from fifteen to fifty thousand dollars.sot henry the whole idea with the buys and girls club was to reach beyond their establishment.

Its got a great location now, but to be able to reach out and open up satellite organizations will do nothing but meet the needs of more and more young people.
