From Deathbed, California Man Pleads For People To Wear Masks In Public

51-year-old California man Thomas 'Tommy' Macias died after contracting COVID-19 at a barbecue in June.

A resident of Lake Elsinore, California, Macias died June 21, three days after testing positive for the coronavirus.

According to HuffPost, just one day before his death, he posted an emotional note on social media.

It was a plea for others to practice social distancing measures to protect themselves against COVID-19.

Because of my stupidity I put my mom and my sisters and my family’s health in jeopardy.

This has been a very painful experience.

This is no joke.

If you have to go out, wear a mask, and practice social distancing.

Don’t be a f***ing idiot like me.

Thomas 'Tommy' Macias Facebook post Macias' niece said her uncle, who was diabetic, had taken the pandemic seriously, wore masks, and scrupulously observed precautions.

However, she said he went to the barbeque because he believed conditions were safe.
