Golf Tip of the Week: Centennial Golf Club

The compact, firm bunkers at Centennial Golf Club can be a challenge for unfamiliar golfers so head professional Chris Daggitt shows how you can be successful from the sand.

Shelton stopped by centennial golf club to learn about their unique bunkers and how to be successful from them on the course.

The bunker is often the most daunting place to be on the golf course, especially for an amateur golfer.

You're often tasked with a high lip and not a lot of green to work with like you are here.

But here at centennial golf club, the bunkers are a little bit different.

And with a little bit of practice, as chris daggitt will explain, that can often work to your advantage.

(take chris key) chris daggitt says, "our bunkers at centennial are pretty unique.

They're a little firmer, so when you go to other course in our area you're going to have softer sand.

And not that our sand isn't soft, it's just a little bit more compact.

We're out here in the wind so a lot of the sand actually blows out so it's a little thinner layer than most golf courses.

So it's just a little more challenging for the average golfer to hit a bunker shot out of."

(topic key) but once you learn somof the tricks to be successful in those bunkers, chris says you may actually prefer the bunker to the rough.

Chris daggitt says, "right here at the edge, you can see it's almost like a 'v', that's your leading edge.

So that's going to work like a knife.

So when you hit into the sand what that's going to do is slide right under and cut through the sand."

That's the key to success in the centennial bunkers.

Chris says that if you play their bunkers like normal ones, your club will bounce off the compact sand and you'll blade it way past your target.

Chris daggitt says, "and when we get behind the ball we're going take a wider stance thanrmal.

T rd, but we're not trying toodnd our target."e thought behind af e bunkers, i step up and give it
