Chinese firefighters save mother and son trapped on ledge during high-rise blaze

Firefighters rescued a mother and her son on a building ledge who were hiding from a fire that broke out in their flat in southern China.

The video, filmed in the city of Chongqing on July 8, shows the bright flames coming out of the 19th-floor flat of a residential building.

In another clip, a mother named Zhou Lin and her ten-year-old son were seen hiding on the building ledge in between the 17th and 18th floors.

A fireman attached by safety ropes lowered down to approach the mother and the son and helped them climb back into the flat.

According to reports, Zhou found the smoke coming into their bedroom when they were sleeping and tried to exit their apartment but failed.

Zhou then opened the window in the bedroom and climbed down with her son to the building ledge to escape the huge fire.

After firefighters arrived, one team went to extinguish the fire and the other team went to evacuate the residents in the building.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
