Butte county schools will face new challenges for the fall.

Butte County is now on the states watch list and changes are being made for the fall semester.

Now, parents are figuring out how they are going to adapt.

All butte county schools -- will start the semester virtually.

Action news now reporter dani masten is live in chico -- dani how are families handling this change of plans?

They're adapting hayley.

And while some parents may not like it others understand it.

Sheryl hubeard/ does not support virtual learning "i'm really sad for my kids.

I mean they are really healthy and happy at home but that interaction at school is huge in their life and it's a big part of their daily being and i am feeling sad that they won't and won't get to have that first interaction with their teacher."

Ashley lacroix/ manager for chico unified "i am grateful for the decision being a parent and an employee, i think safety should be number one priority."

Chico unified superintedent kelly staley told me they're going online only for the fall parents are now trying to plan how they are going to adjust with just three weeks until classes begin.

Sheryl hubeard/ not in favor of virtual learning "for me personally, the technology is a little bit difficult.

I've had a lot of problems with the technology.

I think there is too much togetherness.

I think my kids need other influences and i think it is very frustrating and they don't want to listen to me tell them how to do math wrong."

Omdi mejia/ supports virtual learning "i think we've just accepted it.

I think it's not going to be perfect but that is where we are at.

I really want to follow the rules that are set before us."

While parents are mostly concerned about providing their kids the best education all sarah mejia can think about is not being able to be with her friends.

Sarah mejia/student "it's kinda sad that i am not going to be able to see my friends so much.."

Parents hope butte county gets off the watch list quickly so their kids can return to the classroom if for some reason butte county is removed from the watchlist before school starts - staley told me that parents will still have the option of online learning through oak bridge academy or in-person classes.
