Standing the test of time: Watch this Soviet-era alarm clock get lovingly restored

A YouTuber from central Ukraine has restored a rusty old alarm clock that dates back to the time of the Soviet Union.

Footage from July 28 shows the restoration process, which took a total of two days, where the parts of the 1940s era Slava watch are painstakingly taken apart and gently dipped in acid to remove the rust.

The YouTuber, who runs the popular Olly channel, then put back together all the tiny cogs and pieces.

Olly wrote: "The clock has some rust on it and I was to sand everything flat and replaced the parts that have been nickel-plated originally.

"Disassembly was very difficult because the parts were very small, some bolts were one millimetre in size.

"First, I took the clock apart and began to process it, [to] remove rust and dirt.

[I] also dipped parts in acid to dissolve rust.

"After the assembly, the clock worked completely.

It took two days to restore the watch."
