Coaches in Huntsville showed Lynden Blake the actions they're taking during the coronavirus pandemic.

For the past two weeks, we tried asking local high school football coaches why it's safe to kick off the season - and what they're doing to keep students safe.

Huntsville city schools athletic director scott stapler feels comfortable going foward with football, he says there will be many protocols in place from what the players wear on the sidelines to the fans in the stands.

"we aren't using the locker rooms right now, players come to campus dressed as much as they can be and take equipment home with them every day."

Grissom high school players now wear masks to lift weights and speadout when ever possible on the football field.

"we never bring them together for more than 15 minutes at a time, whether thats a team session or training session."

The same rules for practice apply to game day.

Each player gets a temperature check and ask the players a list of health questions connected to coronavirus.

On the sidelines, players wear masks when they're helmets are off jemison head coach, harold wells told me his players don't mind.

"when they showed up, those guys were ready to do everything that was asked of them, because they wanted to play football.

They were tired of being at home."

Huntsville high school's football team already dealt with two confirmed cases although the school won't say if they are student athletes or coaches.

The huntsville city school district explained the protocol for any athlete who tests positive for coronavirus.

He or she will quarantine.

The district says any person directly exposed, meaning around an infected person for more than 15 minutes, will have to quarantine too.

Any player showing symptoms is directed to huntsville city schools health services.

"we have rigid guildelines to get into practice every day so we're going to continue that."

Panthers coach mark fleetwood says his team responded to the postiive tests by sanitizing and following state guidelines.

The veteran coach told me, he tries to keep his athletes safe even when they aren't on campus.

"let's make sure when we're away from here, we protect this, and try to follow the rules and stay away from the crowds so we can get back every day and have practice."

As for fans, they're allowed at games, but have to stay apart.

Huntsville city schools athletic director, scott stapler says the district's stadium holds 8,500.

"the size of it will allow plenty of social distancing and spacing."

Ll: stapler says he'll know how many fans will be allowed in milton frank next week, before the big kick off august 20.
