A super-fit dad who is battling motor neurone disease has smashed the recordfor the fastest time travelling along the Thames by pedalo – the latest in aseries of gruelling physical challenges he is taking on to help slow thedisease’s progression. Alongside three friends, Alex Gibson, 42, completed the128-mile stretch from Lechlade-on-Thames, Gloucestershire, to Teddington Lock,west London, in just over two days – beating the previous record set by almost48 hours and raising £35,000 for his charity, Challenging MND.

Uber has joined up with Thames Clippers for the launch of its new service UberBoat. The service, which commences in London on Monday, will allow users topurchase tickets for Thames Clippers boats in advance through the Uber app andthen use QR technology to board. The payment will be processed using Uberaccount details. Passengers will be able to use the service across a fleet of20 boats on the River Thames, with departures from 23 piers across London.
