NYPD tasers man seven times during arrest

Body cam footage shows NYPD officers tasing a security guard seven times during his arrest leading to his death.George Zapantis, a heavyset 29-year-old security guard with a history of mental illness, was killed during a near five-minute struggle with the cops on 21st June. The New York Police Department (NYPD) posted the full near-three-hour video on social media showing Zapantis’ cries that he couldn’t breathe during the arrest. In the footage, the stocky suspect is seen appearing at the door in a Gladiator’s helmet before apparently growing angry and attacking cops.A mass of bodies then bring Zapantis to the floor as his shouts turn to squeals and then silence. The security guard was then taken to a nearby police hospital where he was pronounced dead.Officials said that the autopsy results are still pending.George Vomvolakis, an attorney representing Zapantis’ family, called the video’s release “an opportunity for the public to see with their own eyes the excessive force”.
