Wearing face masks and social distancing can sometimes be difficult.

We got the chance to speak with some people about how safe they feel when going in businesses during the pandemic.

W-t-v-a's bronson woodruff joins us now live from tupelo with that story.

Picture this: you go in the front door of a department store and find the aisles crowded with people shopping.

Even the checkout lanes have long lines.

Many of the people are wearing masks, but the question is, would you feel safe?

And prevent that."

Nat pop: "it is a little nerve-racking."

Dora bell sometimes feels safe when she has to go into public places.

"for the most part i do, i do feel safe because most people are wearing a mask."

She said she works in a restaurant, but didn't want to say which one.

She said customers can sometimes make her uneasy.

"sometimes, you know, people don't wanna follow guidelines and wear masks."

Bell added larger stores can get crowded as well.

"i feel very nervous going into bigger places like that, because there are a lot of people that are not wearing their mask, so i try to get in and out as quick as i can."

People don't always try and practice social distancing, such as at gumtree park today.

A large crowd showed up to play basketball on the courts.

Sandra stewart visited tupelo from ripley to have dinner tonight.

She said she does feel safe- "to an extent."

Crowds make her nervous during the pandemic.

"if it's really busy, and there's a lot of people around, i don't really like going into close proximity to somebody."

She added people need to be careful, and said businesses must pull through as well.

"everybody's like losing their jobs and people are going out of business, and so we need to try and prevent that."

The governor's current mandate which expires on monday.... says everyone across the state should wear a mask inside businesses.

Outdoor gatherings are also supposed to be limited to twenty people in total with everyone wearing face coverings, and they're supposed to be spaced six feet apart.
