Gyms and fitness centers across the state can reopen by August 24th

State can reopen as early as one week from today.

The governor made the announcement today and told gym owners what they need to do to reopen.

News channel 2's caitlin irla tells us what we can expect.

Gyms and fitness centers across the state can reopen as soon as august 24th at 33 percent capacity.

Local gym owners, like alex carbone, the owner of the fitness mill says he's ready to open his doors next week.

According to the governor, health departments must inspect the establishments before or within two weeks of reopening.

"there are health requirements that are in the guidelines to the ventilation requirements," cuomo said.

For bigger gyms, like planet fitness... they have already been open in other states, and the ceo of a company that owns 37 planet fitnesses in new york state says their safety measures have been working.
