Footage from Thursday at around 3 pm (August 20) shows standstill congestion near Marks Tey in Essex after police shut the A12 in both directions due to a serious incident.
The exact details of the incident are not yet known, although, according to local media an air ambulance has landed on the carriageway.
In a statement, Essex Police said: "We've closed the #A12 near #MarksTey following a serious collision on the northbound carriageway at 1.40 pm today.
The road has been shut in both directions while we carry out our enquiries.
The road will be shut for some time, so please avoid the area."
