Rajasthan Education Minister and State Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra informed that Congress will hold protests outside Central Government offices at 11 am on August 27 against the decision of conducting JEE and NEET examinations.
Govind Singh Dotasra said, "Central Government should not conduct NEET-JEE 2020 exams due to rising COVID19 infections in the country.
Tomorrow, we will hold protest against the Centre over its decision to conduct the exams."
S.N Shrivastava, Commissioner Delhi Police, felicitated the meritorious students of Delhi Police Public Schools who secured exceptionally good marks in Class XII, NEET and JEE at Police headquarters. Teachers and students from all the three schools were also present virtually to witness the ceremony. 25 students were awarded merit certificates, cash rewards and trophies for their achievements. 11 among these 25 students are wards of Delhi Police personnel. LG award and Rajesh IPS award for the best student of the year was also presented to class XII students. Other than school toppers, stream toppers and achievers in NEET and JEE were also rewarded. On this occasion, the Commissioner of Police commended the Principal of the schools as well as the school faculty for putting sincere efforts with dedication, which resulted in getting excellent results. These schools are run as welfare measures for police personnel by the Police Foundation for Education, Delhi.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid floral tribute to the former chief minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi. He was accompanied by Congress National General Secretary K C Venugopal. Tarun Gogoi passed away on November 23 at GMCH in Guwahati. He was undergoing treatment for post-COVID complications.
Congress leader Kapil Sibal condoled the death of Rajya Sabha MP and his party leader Ahmed Patel and said that the commitment Ahmed Patel had towards Congress cannot be seen in anyone else. "He was a kind, generous and thoughtful man. He kept the Congress Party together when in difficult times. He never demanded a post or a ministry. The commitment he had towards the party cannot be seen in anyone else," said Sibal.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Nov 17 told that he had sent a proposal to Central Government to allow shutting down of markets where COVID-19 norms are not being followed. CM Kejriwal said, "We have sent a proposal to Delhi LG to withdraw decision of allowing 200 people in weddings and decrease it to 50.' He further said, "Since cases are rising in Delhi, we are sending a general proposal to Central Government, that if required, Delhi Government can implement shutting down those markets for few days, where norms are not being followed and they are becoming a local COVID-19 hotspot."
Ahead of second round of polling in state Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Bihar's Samastipur on November 01. During the rally, PM Modi announced fund of Rs 1 lakh crores for agriculture infrastructure for our farmers. PM Modi said, "BJP has decided to form 1,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) for farmers in Bihar. Also, Central Govt has created a fund of Rs 1 lakh crores for agriculture infrastructure for our farmers."
A mandatory RT-PCR test rule began in Mumbai from November 25 (Wednesday) amid rising cases of coronavirus pandemic. Travellers from Delhi, Rajasthan, Goa and Gujarat arrived at Mumbai's Dadar Railway Station to undergo mandatory RT-PCR test.
