Action news now reporter vanessa romo starts us off from tonight chico state - she spoke to students about their concerns.

Many students i spoke to today said they are very concerned for their health while on and off campus... some say they are taking the proper precautions, but don't belive others are... chico state notified students, faculty and staff via email, saturday, of five additional covid-19 cases who spent time on its campus in august.

I am actually not surprised because there is a lot of students that are in large gatherings going out every weekend so im really not surprised that we have 27 on campus cases.

But i'm not that scared to be here, mainly because i know that chico is taking precautions to not get shut down& i was a little concerned obviously because i don't want to get it but i know that chico state is taking precautions to prevent the spread... according to the university, these new cases involve people who spent time in holt, yolo, langdon and sutter hall.

The last dat any infected person was in those halls was august 25th and 26th.

Since then, all areas have received enhanced cleaning or have been closed down.

I've just been trying to stay in and not go out as much because college students do not like to stay in, they like to go out, but for my safety i've been taking those extra precautions and staying in& the university is mandating every student to take an online covid-19 training, wear face coverings, perform symptom monitoring on a daily basis, and social distance.

I wish that there was in-person classes like without covid, i would like to enjoy my freshman year without having to worry about this, but i understand this is what you have to do in order to keep everyone safe.

According to the university all individuals exposed during the incident have been directed to isolate.

At chico state vanessa romo action news now coverage you can count on.
