>> brooke: as we know every town big and small has own jurisdiction and town leaders and police, summerville working to get ahead of nationwide call to action against police violence and racial injustice with the dignity project.

That's a grassroots movement to further positive relationship between summerville officers and community members.

Now, i spoke with chaplain rich robinson with coastal crisis chaplaincy and asked the town's police chief to engage in the protest.

Now, this is all sparking an idea to really bring to light this type of relationship and seek even more community feedback to understand how the town could build upon the foundation it has with its police force.

>> there's a lot of conversation about defunding the police and what does that electric like but when you talk with people what they are really talking about is defining police.

It is people in the community are saying here is what we wish and hope for for our police and a lot of that if you spent a lot of time with police, there are a lot of the same goals.

>> now, police chief john rogers fully on board with the project worked with chaplaincy and leaders on the efforts.

In order to bring new policy changes to the light, the project needs your input.
