By contracting the virus and recovering you are more likely to save someones life however vitalant spokesperson jared luent says although case numbers are high they have not seen an increase in donations.

"we haven't really seen a change."

Nearly 79 thousand people recovered from the coronavirus since march here in the state.

And according to the cdc those who recovered from the virus now contain anitibodies in their blood that fight the virus.

Luent says all donations are welcome but especially convalescent plasma which can only come from someone who survived coronavirus.

"because as soon as we get those donations in, there being sent directly to hospitals to help treat covid-19 patient."

Luent says all donors need to be free of symptoms for at least 28 days.

He says masks are required while inside the bank and the staff added new safety precautions to help donors feel safe.

"we have increased our own cleaning and sanitation practices in our donation centers.
