Tennessee's House Speaker Cameron Sexton talks about concerns over voting by absentee

Speaker cameron sexton made a stop in chattanooga today.

He shares concerns over voting in this upcoming election.

He was here supporting the re-election of state representative esther helton.

News 12 caught up with the house speaker at the wilson air center and asked him if he has concerns over absentee voting.

We thought we had a very good process which allow people over 60 to vote and if you had certain illnesses and sicknesses you could vote by absentee.

It seems the courts are trying to transpose that and move it to allow same day voter registration same day voting which calls into question a lot of the integrity of the question of the election.

We've passed voter id in the state of tennessee not to suppress anybody's right to vote but to make sure we protect the integrity of the system so as you're looking at absentee ballot you also have to protect the integrity of it and i think that those are some concerns that we have as we're trying to move in that direction.

We'll have more on this tonight
