Voters in Oktibbeha County went to the polls on Sept.

22 to fill Senate District 15 and House District 37.

But people in a handful of counties are voting today in a special election, giving us a glimpse at what an election will be like during the coronavirus pandemic.

I spoke to election workers who said the turnout today has been decent..

Residents are voting in the senate district 15 and house district 37 seats.

Many people came out to vote, especially in districts one and four.

All voters and poll workers are wearing masks while inside.

Each precinct has sanitizer on hand.

All the voting machines are spread out by 6 feet and there are social distancing markers on the floor.

The senate race is to replace senator gary jackson.

The district covers parts of montgomery, webster, choctaw and oktibbeha county.

The candidates are: bricklee miller, levon murphy jr. bart williams, joyce meek yates.

The house race is to replace representative gary chism.

It affects parts of clay, lowndes and oktibbeha counties.

Here are the candidates: david michael chism, vicky rose and lynn wright.
