Mumbai rain: Train services & traffic affected; water enters Covid hospital

Heavy showers overnight and Wednesday caused waterlogging at many places in Mumbai disrupting normal life in the city.

Massive traffic snarls were reported from different areas while train services were also disrupted.

Streets were water logged in several areas and people had to wade through knee deep water.

A bus was stuck in King Circle and passengers were seen holding each other’s hand to get past water logged streets.

Railway tracks were also water logged leading to cancellation of several local trains.

Water also entered Nair Hospital in Mumbai which is a dedicated Covid facility.

Work is underway by the civic body to clear these roads for hassle free commute.

According to the India Meteorological Department, Mumbai is expected to receive moderate rains till September 28.

This is the heaviest rain the suburbs received this monsoon season and IMD has warned of more rainfall in the city and suburbs.

A yellow alert has also been sounded for Wednesday.

Scientist of India Meteorological Department of Delhi, Kuldeep Srivastava informed that Delhi has recorded its lowest temperature in month of October since 1994. He said, "Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius (at Safdarjung) today, the lowest in the month of October after 1994. India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that the southwest monsoon finally withdrew from the entire country. With this the northeast monsoon, a phenomenon that brings rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala during October to December, commenced. "Under its influence, scattered rainfall with moderate thunderstorm and lightning (is) very likely over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next five days with isolated heavy rainfall over south Tamil Nadu during the next two days and over south Kerala during the next 24 hours," the IMD said.
