Man hospitalized after rattlesnake bites him in hospital

Medics had to fight to save the life of a patient admitted to hospital who was then bitten on the thumb by a rattlesnake that sneaked into his bed.The deadly snake bit the man on the thumb at a hospital in Tlahuac municipality located in the Mexican capital city of Mexico City.Agents from the Animal Surveillance Brigade from the Ministry of Citizen Security were called to the hospital after a 51-year-old man, who has not been named, was bitten on the right thumb by the snake. The officers said that by the time they arrived doctors had managed to get the snake into a cardboard box, but that was not a safe way to transport it and therefore, they moved it from the box into a more secure container. The cops said experts were able to confirm the bite was from a snake of the Crotalus genus which is most commonly referred to as a rattlesnake upon a visual inspection.Doctors quickly went into action and gave the man the necessary medical treatment hoping to make sure his life was not at riskThe video shows the moment one of the officers carefully manipulates the snake with a snake hook apparently pinning it against a wall and a snake enclosure. The assisting officer briefly goes off-camera and returns with a lid.

He places on top of the enclosure after his partner puts the animal inside. The rattlesnake is set to be delivered to the Wild Life Conservation and Investigation Centre.
