The crash.

President trump nominated amy coney barrett for the surpeme court.

She has ties to indiana.

So -- what does this mean for us locally?

News 10's richard solomon has that answer from a political science professor.

//////// richar} dr. terrence casey, a political science professor at rose hulman says there's a good chance amy coney barrett could be seated before the election.

She currently serves on the 7th circuit court just below the supreme court level.

Dr. casey says those in the supreme court decide what is and isn't law.

Those rulings can impact everyone in the country.

He says many refer to barrett as a "conservative republican" barrett would fill ruth bader ginsberg's position who recently died.

Dr. casey says right now republicans control majority of the senate.

In the long run...this nomination could be more important in november than you think.

"we are looking at a potentially legally contested election cycle so who sits on the supreme court may determine how that plays out" richar} when barrett meets with congress there will be hearings asking her opinion on certain topics.

Including abortion.

At 6 i'll share with you more of her standpoint.

Plus... i'll have reaction from some locally about her nominee, reporting in the newsroom richard solomon news 10.
