A special board meeting wednesday.

From more graduates to more patients, the university of kentucy has reached many new benchmarks in the last five years.

But that doesn't mean the school is perfect...or that it doesn't have more work to do.

That's what u-k president eli capilouto told the school's board of trustees during a review of the university's five- year strategic plan.

The highlights included higher than ever student retention rates, more bachelor degrees and more black students earning degrees.

Plus, 430-million dollars in research each year and 2- point-7 billion dollars in construction.

"we, we are more diverse and more committed to the success of students from all backgrounds than ever before.

Are we perfect, no!

But, we are doing much much better.

And we invest more in financial support for students and families who need it the most.

And, we provide more scalpel and services to those who are confronting challenges that most of us never imagined when we entered college."

As for the next strategic plan, capilouto told the board the u-k community must engage in a conversation that seeks input from every corner of the campus.
